Olivier Rousteing showed us a body-conscious modern army for his Balmain men’s Spring/Summer 2015 presentation. Extremely fitted and perfectly tailored silhouettes, combining the French maison usual maximalism and craftsmanship with sportswear-inspired streetwear. World Cup and 70s athletes has been declared as references, and a particular eye has been pointed to ski champion Jean-Claude Killy and race car drivers. Adrenaline and fighting spirit didn’t miss to have also a hip-hop culture touch, giving the collection a modern and contemporary swing. African weaving elements, as Olivier Rousteing did for women’s Fall/Winter 2014-15 collection too, appeared on intricately detailed jackets and beaded perfectos recalling navajo patterns and drawings.
