Comme des Garçons Shirt Fall/Winter 2014-15 discreet show inside the magnificence of Place Vendôme on early morning time made us reflect on the variation of shirt and the possibility to literally play with it. Rei Kawakubo has always expressed her wish to have invented a shirt: infact, she aims to that as the basic essential element of a wardrobe. As the usual way of working – developing seasonal artistic collaborations for the line – this Fall Comme des Garçons has appointed a French artist based in Tokyo, Nicolas Buffe, to make a collaborative collection for the brand. Stage sets and costumes performers appeared as sketches on shirts’ surfaces, literally treated as canvases: colored, printed and polka-dotted. Anyway, the thematic variations was not just about prints and drawings reported on the surfaces, but also the way the brand transformed the shirts, adding patches, ruffles, doubling plakets on backs and tridimensional bubbles.
