Casual and sporty, but always extremely glitz. That’s exactly what Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain Spring Summer 2014 was about. All these supermodels looking natural and perfect in quilted pied-de-poule bomber, leather overalls, baseball tees and vichy dresses. ‘It’s less evening and more real. It’s more me’, said the designer after the show. The glamour came up not on the more relaxed silhouettes, but on the decoration and accessories: massive necklaces and wrestler’s belts, golden chains, buttons, sequins and pearls all over the garments.
The soundtrack, taken from Rousteing’s mother old cassettes, and of course the strong shapes also, took the audience instantly back to the cult of 80s.
