Ann Demeulemeester let us enter in her secret garden, where the music all around was Devendra Banhart’s and the lights warm blue, red and yellow bulb illuminations. She told us the story of her Sunday’ afternoons, with that touch of poetry that’s totally her world. Along black & white came the red & white, the pale pinks, the light blues, the royal blues, the purples and the saffron yellows: a colour palette evoking pleasant summery laziness. Stripes were everywhere: on tops and bottoms; and the same was for blossoms, printed but also embroidered on jackets, as well as on shoes. I would not describe Ann Demeulemeester’s men as a dandy – infact he’s without any kind of snobbery – but a refined and charming french guy that knows how to be dark but romantic at the same time.
