Christopher Kane’s catwalk shows have been one of the highlights of London Fashion Week for quite some time now and after the recent announcement of backing from luxury conglomerate PPR, everyone was expecting even bigger things from the designer this season. He rose to the challenge and wowed with a 60 model strong collection which showcased some of his signature themes including camouflage knits, kilts and detached hems as well as his ability to bring in off beat themes to add a genial spark to his work. There were richer details, fox fur trims and elegant coats that will also grab the attention of a new clientele. The scope of the show demonstrated the designer’s wealth of creativity and ability to translate it into a strong collection, surely just two of the many reasons François-Henri Pinault, who was sitting front row, now knows that he has made a smart investment.
